The Winslow Boy is based on a
real-life court case of a young
naval cadet unjustly accused of
stealing a five shilling postal
order. First staged in 1946
and famously filmed with Robert
Donat in the lead, the play has been
revived many times since.
Reviewing a 1994 revival, The Sunday Times wrote: "This is as well-made an example of a well made play that you will find anywhere.'
