Throughout
the years audiences (whether for theatre, cinema, radio or
television) have loved a good old-fashioned murder mystery. At the
Little Theatre Gateshead such plays have proved to be firm favourites.
Our March
offering comes from an author new to our audiences but with strong
credentials having written more than thirty published plays, many of
them being of this genre.
Fred
Carmichael was particularly successful with "Out of Sight..Out
of Murder" as it was a prize winner when first produced in
America where it is set.
The
location is a gloomy old mansion in Vermont Gothic in style and
reminiscent of the works of Edgar Allen Poe or of Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein' but
the mood of the play is much lighter in tone with many comic twists
as the hero (struggling writer Peter Knight) finds that the creatures
of his imagination are in fact characters with lives of their own!
And he is
strangely attracted to the beautiful young ingenue of the play.
Unfortunately
he is real whilst she,
despite her apparent substance is fictional.
Come and
see how he resolves his problems with her and with the other players
in this entertaining play! |
