The Progressive
Players announce a new President
Following
the recent death of the first Progressive Players President,
Norah Fulton, the society has announced long serving member
Oliver Colvin will take over the honourable position.
Oliver will be
a familiar face to many involved with the Little Theatre and
is in fact the societies longest serving member, having
joined as a teenager in 1935.
He was
involved in several productions when the Progressive Players
were based at the Westfield Hall until he was called to
active service during the Second World War, during which the
current Little Theatre was opened in 1943.
Following the
war, Oliver returned to Gateshead and the Little Theatre and
he has since been involved in almost all areas of the
Theatre.
His
significant contribution was praised by the current
membership when he was presented with the Presidency in
November 2005.
