Irene started taking
elocution and drama lessons when 10 years old, passing various exams,
finally attaining the dizzy heights of L.A.M.D.A. bronze, silver and
gold medals.
From Children's Little
Theatre and Church Drama Group she was eager to join the Progressive
Players in 1955 when aged 16.
She played many roles over
the next 14 years, her favourites being "All My Sons and
"The Desperate Hours". Irena also worked backstage during
this time.
Circumstances forced her
to leave in 1969 but 22 years later she was back!....at first nervous
to take parts but now her love of treading the boards is well and
truly back.
She particularly enjoys
character roles in both comedy and drama and her favourites since her
return have been "Run for Your Wife" "Dancing at
Lughnasa" and "Straight and Narrow". |
