Don has been involved with amateur theatre for over forty years, mainly with the Progressive Players, but also with other groups in the area and in other parts of the country, where it was interesting to try different disciplines, for example, hospital radio drama and theatre in the round. With the Progressives he has participated in almost all aspects of the theatre; acting, directing, backstage and "front of house" jobs, and various administrative tasks ranging from chairman to billposting. He feels that amateur theatre has provided him with many challenges, a wide circle of friends and an abundance of happy memories.
